Weldon Plant Ltd of Corby have used Train to Gain, the Government’s flagship service to support employers in England of all sizes and in all sectors, to improve the skills of two of their employees.
Weldon Plant HR Manager Bob Parkin, had desperately been searching for training courses for the supervisors and after an informative call from Allan Matthews, Skills Broker for East Midlands Business Ltd (EMB), he decided to use Train to Gain.
‘We had been trying to find training for our Supervisors for the whole year, ringing round various providers and other businesses trying to find an appropriate course, so the call from Allan really couldn’t have come at a better time.’ Bob said.
‘After an initial phone call he came in to meet us for a chat and immediately sourced the right course, as well as funding. So Train to Gain has really worked for us. Allan was fully tapped into what’s happening which is vital for a company of our size,’ Bob said.
Colin Webb who undertook an NVQ Level 3 Construction Site Supervisor course, commented:
‘Without this training it would have been increasingly difficult to continue to work in the industry. Although there would still have been some work we would have increasingly struggled, so we’re really grateful that Train to Gain has helped us find an appropriate course.’
Allan Matthews is tremendously impressed with Weldon Plant’s growth and development since using Train to Gain.
‘Following the launch of Train to Gain, we’ve been receiving a strong flow of leads as businesses like Weldon Plant have been crying out for this sort of service. Working with Weldon Plant has been particularly satisfying as I’ve been able to find a practical solution that genuinely has helped the company and two of their members of staff.’
