It's important to recognise and reward outstanding achievement. And we do.
Our approach to the work/life balance offers flexibility and support for all our employees. We want to keep you happy, enthusiastic and innovative so we can make the most of your skills.
We ensure that our remuneration package remains competitive by keeping in touch with the employment market. Salaries, commission, bonus schemes and benefits are regularly benchmarked against other employers, including fellow publishers, to make sure we're rewarding our employees well.
On top of a good salary, we also invest more than £1 million in a typical year on training and development of our employees, ensuring they benefit from the training they want or need, and get plenty of support if they're working towards a professional qualification.
Our annual company-wide awards ceremony, recently named the best internal company awards scheme in the UK, rewards exceptional employees and teams with thousands of pounds worth of prize money each year, and hundreds of RBI employees enjoy a glamorous night out to celebrate.
Departments within the company also stage their own awards, and many RBI employees benefit from regular performance related pay bonuses.
Pension scheme
RBI offers very competitive pensions which provide a low-cost comprehensive package of retirement and in-service benefits for members and their dependents, including excellent life insurance and ill health cover. A board of trustees independently manages the pension scheme and the fund is in good financial health.
Holidays
To give the very best to your job, you need to take time out to recharge your batteries. RBI recognises this by offering a generous holiday entitlement of 28 days a year. Long servers are provided with an extra week off each year. This puts RBI up with the very best employers in Britain, according to the 'Sunday Times 100 Best Companies to Work For' guide. Only 40 per cent of the companies listed offer 25 days holiday or more.
We have recently introduced the option of buying and selling holiday so you can begin to manage your benefits to suit you.
Car allowance
RBI offers a car allowance scheme for certain posts within the company. This scheme is designed to give you flexibility and provide a method of funding a car of your choice. You can use your car allowance to buy or lease a privately owned car, use additional personal funds to purchase a more expensive car, or get a less expensive car and retain the balance of the allowance as cash. We also offer very generous fuel allowances should you need to use your car for work.
Flexible working practices
Reed Business Information recognises that a successful employment relationship is one which is built on flexibility on the part of both the company and its employees. Where possible we will try to accommodate your requests for change of work hours, part time work, job share and other flexible working arrangements.
Childcare
RBI provides a monthly financial contribution towards the cost of childcare, allowing parents to decide how to spend the money.
Maternity, paternity and parental leave
In addition to the statutory maternity rights, we provide generous maternity leave benefits to female employees with more than one year's service. This includes maternity leave with the equivalent of 20 weeks full pay. RBI also offers 14 days paid paternity leave to enable fathers to be with their family at this important time. There are also provisions allowing for time off for emergencies, as well as periods of special leave for employees with children.
Career breaks
Our career break scheme is open to employees at all levels within RBI. It's a chance to have up to five years away from work, devoting your time to your family, travel or full time study. If you clear it with your manager, we'll keep the door open for you to return to the company and continue your career with us afterwards.
Your well-being
Health at work: Our Occupational Health team play a key role managing the company's most valuable asset - its employees - by minimising and preventing work-related health issues. From acupressure to reflexology, treatments are available to ease stress at many of our UK offices, and if our employees are unlucky enough to suffer from a work-related ailment, the team will arrange appointments with our physiotherapist, pay for an eye test or offer expert advice.
Health insurance: Some roles within RBI carry an entitlement to join the Reed Elsevier corporate healthcare scheme, providing either individual or family medical cover. All employees qualify for discounted health insurance with certain providers, as part of our benefits package.
Sick pay
RBI offers generous sick pay entitlement, including statutory entitlement to sick pay.
